Charles Leclerc reportedly cut an ‘overwhelmed’ figure in the Barcelona media pen amid Lewis Hamilton’s fine form.
On the back of a disappointing Monaco Grand Prix, Leclerc arrived in Barcelona looking to reignite his season and halt Hamilton’s momentum.
However, Leclerc crashed during Q3, meaning he had to start Sunday’s Grand Prix from P10. Meanwhile, Hamilton managed to put his SF-26 second.
Hamilton went on to win the Barcelona Grand Prix, with Leclerc being forced to retire in the closing stages of the race.
As a result, Leclerc is now trailing Hamilton by 40 points in the world championship standings, with pressure firmly on the Monegasque to bounce back at the Austrian Grand Prix.

Speaking after the race, Leclerc reflected on his disappointing weekend and praised Hamilton’s ‘incredible’ performance.
The 28-year-old also played down the part he played in Hamilton’s victory after moving out of the way for the Brit to move up the order following a pit stop.
As reported by F1’s official website, Leclerc said: “I don’t want to take any credit for today; I don’t think I did much for the team. I think Lewis and the team won it on their own.
“I wish I had been a bit more in front. Been a bit more in the mix of things but I wasn’t for my fault. A huge congratulations to Lewis who has been on it for quite a bit and has been incredible.
“And a huge congrats to the team who is pushing massively on upgrades and we are showing it now. It’s good to see this, I’m just very disappointed in my side obviously.”
