Aston Martin find themselves towards the back of the grid after dealing with several issues throughout testing.
During the Bahrain Test, it has become increasingly obvious that Aston Martin have a lot of catching up to do before Melbourne because they have encountered multiple issues.
There was a lot of hype around the AMR26 before the start of testing, as Adrian Newey had been in charge of designing the latest Aston Martin.
However, it has been underwhelming as power unit issues and reliability have been a thorn in the side of the Silverstone-based constructor.

Aston Martin are struggling to ‘get out of the hole’ they are in
After four days of testing at the Bahrain International Circuit, there have been many concerned faces in the Aston Martin garage.
Albert Fabrega discussed what he has noticed from watching Aston Martin throughout the Bahrain test so far.
The Spaniard believes Aston Martin have made slight progress between week one and two, but there is still a long way to go, and it will take time for them to develop fixes.
Fabrega said, “It seems that at Aston Martin, they are not getting themselves out of the hole that they have gotten themselves into for several reasons.
“Not only because of the power unit, but also due to what we are seeing when the car is on the track. The lock-ups, the track exits, as we have seen from Lance Stroll, which does not help the few laps that they are doing. Or how badly the car behaved when Fernando Alonso tried to push this morning.
“Things are being unlocked as we have seen a bit more speed across a lap, but it seems when they push the accelerator a little, it does not work, it breaks, and it is difficult to drive.
“They have a lot of work ahead.”

Claims in the paddock suggest Aston Martin are disappointed in Adrian Newey
DAZN’s Antonio Lobato discussed the issues that Aston Martin have run into, and said that Aston Martin were expecting more from the AMR26.
Although Newey was optimistic during the early challenges for Aston Martin at the start of the 2026 Formula 1 season, he will have significantly more responsibilities as Team Principal instead of working independently.
After identifying the issues that he is facing, Newey has been delegating the problems with the Honda power unit, which has allowed Newey to focus on the aerodynamic upgrades he must make to his design.
With all of the issues piling up, Aston Martin were declared the slowest car on the grid during the fourth day of testing at Bahrain.
