Anthony Davidson has suggested that everyone in the paddock thinks Liam Lawson would be perfect for Williams.
Davidson was speaking on the Sky Sports F1 Podcast after the Japanese Grand Prix.
It was a return to form for Max Verstappen and Red Bull who wrapped up the Constructors’ Championship.
Behind them, the two McLaren drivers made up the rest of the podium with rookie Oscar Piastri earning his first top-three finish.
A rookie who had a much trickier time at Suzuka was Logan Sargeant.

The American driver put his car in the barrier before setting a lap time in qualifying and started at the back of the grid.
He didn’t finish the race despite his team managing to rebuild his car once again this season.
Sargeant hit Valterri Bottas and retired a few laps later complaining about the car’s handling.
Davidson has now said that Lawson would be the perfect replacement for the 22-year-old at Williams.
It’s currently the last race seat on the grid that hasn’t been confirmed for 2024.
Davidson says Lawson would be perfect for Williams
Asked who would be a good option if Sargeant isn’t given another year at Williams, Davidson said: “I think it’s not just me saying this but everybody in the paddock that I’ve spoken to about him in Liam Lawson, what a cracking job he’s done and continued to do that in Suzuka as well.
“I think he might just have one final run out in Qatar next race coming up if [Daniel] Ricciardo’s hand hasn’t recovered in time.
“If that is the end of the road for Lawson for now then I think he would be an amazing option for Williams and one where both teams can benefit from.
“In the short term, Williams can benefit from having clearly a known quantity that will jump in and do a good job.
“He’s done enough races now in enough conditions to give people confidence and that’s what a lot of the time it’s down to in a team.
“He’s the most logical one that I would like to put in my second seat if I was running a team.”

Davidson also suggested Felipe Drugovich and Theo Pourchaire as other options Williams could consider as well as Lawson.
The Kiwi has been sensational since taking over from Daniel Ricciardo at AlphaTauri following his injury.
He could consider himself unlucky not to be given a chance by the team for next year.
Ricciardo and Yuki Tsunoda will be driving for the Red Bull sister team in 2024.
They may well end up racing Lawson if Williams decide to approach the young driver.
