Alfa Romeo are considering following Red Bull’s lead in 2024 and finding a seat for reserve driver Theo Pourchaire in Super Formula.
A report from Motorsport.com has shared more information on the futures of some of the most promising young drivers in motor racing right now.
Over the course of the season, F1 fans have caught a glimpse of the youngsters coming through the ranks in Formula 2 at the moment.
There were five rookies on track in the first free practice session in Mexico City, with Oliver Bearman finishing ahead of Fernando Alonso that day.
Unfortunately, the one driver fans might have been most excited to see didn’t manage to set a lap time.
Theo Pourchaire is currently leading the F2 championship with one weekend of action to go in Abu Dhabi.
The French has been described as ‘one of the best’ young drivers in motorsport at the moment.
Pourchaire is on Alfa Romeo’s books and now it looks like he might end up in Super Formula in 2024.

It’s not the most well-trodden path to Formula 1, but there is one very recent example that might have swayed the Swiss team to make this decision.
Liam Lawson finished second in the series to Ritomo Miyata and starred for AlphaTauri when he replaced Daniel Ricciardo this year.
Pourchaire could end up in Super Formula in 2024
The report from Motorsport.com suggests that Alfa Romeo are hoping to find a seat for Pourchaire in the Japanese series.
The 20-year-old would be one of the younger competitors in the series but Liam Lawson’s success in Japan is a fantastic template for the French driver.
Lawson narrowly missed out on winning the championship after a 13th and 6th place finish in two of the last three races.
There were two other drivers in the series that would be familiar to F2 fans and would give Pourchaire hope that he could thrive in Super Formula.
Cem Bolukbasi finished 18th in the series, recording just two points finishes, while Giuliano Alesi managed a high of eighth in his five races.
Pourchaire is comfortably faster than both drivers and would hope to be competing for another title.
However, his full focus will be on securing the Formula 2 title in Abu Dhabi with Frederik Vesti attempting to do the near-impossible and chase him down.
