Williams driver Alex Albon has said that rivals AlphaTauri have been ‘dangerously consistent’ this season.

Speaking after the Canadian Grand Prix, Albon was reflecting on a brilliant race.

The British-born Thai driver has been getting the very best out of his Williams car all season.

He recorded his best finish of the season in Montreal, earning six points with a 7th place finish.

It was a brilliant weekend overall for Albon, who once again started in the top ten.

After progressing through Q2 ahead of the likes of Charles Leclerc and Sergio Perez, he saved his tyres by not setting a time in Q3.

Williams then absolutely nailed his strategy on Sunday before he drove a fantastic race to earn some important points.

Alex Albon and Wiliams have identified AlphaTauri as their biggest rivals this season.

They’re currently fighting not to finish bottom of the Constructors’ Championship this year.

Albon has complimented the Italian team, but admitted they’ve been very unlucky.

Alex Albon says AlphaTauri have been unfortunate this season

Speaking about his brilliant race in Canada, Albon said: “I have to say the work that’s been done back at the factory to get this upgrade ready has been monumental.

“We knew this track would suit us and we did put a lot into this weekend, we really put our eggs into one basket. It’s great to pay off.

“We are fighting the AlphaTauri’s in the Championship, and they are very consistent, dangerously consistent.

“But luckily for us and unfortunately for them, they’re always in the P11 kind of area, so to get these points on the board I believe puts us up into ninth for now, we need to continue with that.

“This upgrade is working well so let’s see.”

As Alex Albon has said, AlphaTauri have been very unlucky this season.

Yuki Tsunoda has driven brilliantly and missed out on points by a single place on three occasions.

He also finished in the points in Spain before being handed a very harsh penalty.

Williams will hope Logan Sargeant can score the first points of his F1 career soon to help support Albon.

Until then, the more experienced former Red Bull driver is carrying the team on the track.
