Aston Martin currently sit eighth in the constructors’ championship heading into the British Grand Prix.
Fernando Alonso and Lance Stroll are level on 14 points, but the Spanish driver looks far more likely to add to his tally at this stage of the season.
Stroll hasn’t scored a point since the Sprint Race in Miami, while Alonso is on a run of three consecutive top-10 finishes.
However, Aston Martin are pinning their hopes on being more competitive when F1’s regulations change in 2026.

The introduction of Honda power units is seen as a key addition next season, while Adrian Newey and Enrico Cardile are being tasked with leading Lawrence Stroll’s team forward.
Journalist Julianne Cerasoli recently visited Aston Martin’s factory and spotted the veteran car designer showing exactly why the team were so keen on bringing him in from Red Bull.
Newey has helped optimise Alonso’s car, but he’s firmly concentrating on 2026 and making Aston Martin championship contenders for the first time.

Adrian Newey was the last man working at Aston Martin’s Silverstone factory
Cerasoli was speaking on the Pit Pass F1 Podcast and told the story of her visit to Aston Martin.
She said: “On Thursday night, we had a very good experience once again to go to the Aston Martin factory.
“They received us outside with a little concert, but it was going to be even better for me because I took a factory tour.
I had done that before, I wasn’t going to do it because I thought I had seen everything before, I had seen everything they were willing to show us.
“I was able to pick up parts of the side pod and see how light it is. It’s amazing how, after so many crashes, it still stands because it’s so light.

“He was explaining a lot about the manufacturing of the parts, and also showing the mission control where they have all these people watching the race and checking the data live.
“Five people from aerodynamics, five people on the engine, five people from strategy and they are analysing everything during the race and sending the feedback to the race.
“But, what caught our eye was seeing the design room, it was completely empty, it was 9:30 pm on Thursday of the British Grand Prix and there was one person still working in a room that’s like a dome overlooking all the other engineers.
“It was a certain Adrian Newey who was still there, still at his massive drawing board, he was still there working, trying to get the team to the next level.”

Who will be racing for Aston Martin during the 2026 Formula 1 season?
Newey is doing everything he can to make sure Aston Martin are competitive next season.
However, while Alonso and Stroll have contracts for 2026, it doesn’t appear as though they’re guaranteed to be on the grid next season.
Lawrence Stroll is desperate to build the strongest team possible, and that’s seen Aston Martin linked with a couple of the fastest drivers on the grid.
| TEAM | DRIVER 1 | DRIVER 2 |
| Alpine | Pierre Gasly | Franco Colapinto |
| Aston Martin | Fernando Alonso | Lance Stroll |

F1 Oversteer understands Aston Martin are still keen on Max Verstappen, although he’s very much on Mercedes’ radar ahead of next season.
George Russell has been linked with Aston Martin in case he loses his seat at Mercedes to the aforementioned Verstappen.
All of these rumours put more pressure on Alonso and Stroll to perform, and the Canadian is a step behind his more experienced teammate at this stage of the campaign.
