Lawrence Stroll might not be the most popular team owner in Formula 1, as multiple people have expressed that they do not want to work alongside him.
The Canadian businessman has been somewhat of a controversial figure ever since he stepped into the F1 paddock.
Just one year left in Lawrence Stroll’s five-year plan
Where will Aston Martin be in 2027?
In fact, even Bernie Ecclestone had reservations about Stroll when he first joined the sport. He offered some investment to Williams before taking himself and his son, Lance Stroll, to Force India, which he took over and rebranded to Racing Point.
In 2022, the team became Aston Martin, and Stroll has been working towards building the Silverstone outfit into a title-winning project. However, despite his investment and clear ambition, not many people are keen on working with him.

‘A lot of people’ do not want to work with Lawrence Stroll due to his character and temperament
In 2026, Aston Martin are in crisis. Several vibration issues and Honda’s engine being desperately underpowered have left the team struggling to cross the finish line, let alone score points.
Despite the additions of Adrian Newey, Enrico Cardile, and the soon-to-be team principal Jonathan Wheatley, Aston Martin are stuck at the back of the grid, and that will do little to help the reputation of Stroll, who is already unpopular.
Spanish F1 commentator, Antonio Lobato, told SoyMotor that not many people want to work with the Canadian after hearing about his character.
He said: “No, I don’t know Lawrence Stroll. I’ve heard a lot about him. There are a lot of people in Formula 1 who haven’t wanted to work with Lawrence Stroll because they know what sort of character he has.
Has Lawrence Stroll made too many changes at Aston Martin?
“And I don’t know how he’s behaving, how he’s reacting, what internal communications he’s having right now with the people in senior management. I don’t know what’s going on.
“No, I don’t know what conversations he’s had with Honda, I just know that Honda has made a right mess of things, obviously, but that Aston Martín is responsible, absolutely, responsible for not having monitored the development of the engine that Honda was preparing.”
Guenther Steiner says Stroll lacks the ‘patience’ to see Aston Martin succeed. This is evidenced by Wheatley coming in to replace Newey as team principal after not even half a season in the role, with him being moved back towards the technical side of the operation.
It was always going to take time for Aston Martin to become a frontrunner in the sport. However, with their start to 2026, they are now even more on the back foot.
