Formula 1 returns to the United States for the final time this year as it gears up for the Las Vegas Grand Prix. Here’s everything you need to know about Round 22 of the 2025 F1 season.
The race around the street circuit marks the first grand prix of the season’s closing triple header, with races in Qatar and Abu Dhabi on the horizon in the coming weeks.
Lando Norris extended his championship lead in Sao Paulo at the previous race, where he won both the sprint and the Brazilian grand prix to pull 24 points ahead of Oscar Piastri.
The Aussie, who had previously led the title fight for 15 races before Norris took charge in Mexico, suffered a difficult weekend, including a sprint crash and a 10-second penalty in the main race following a collision with Kimi Antonelli.
The young Mercedes rookie, who started from P2, claimed his second podium of the season after keeping ahead of the catching Max Verstappen.
Verstappen started from the pit lane in Sao Paulo before pulling off an impressive performance, which resulted in him taking the final podium position.

What is the weather forecast for the 2025 Las Vegas Grand Prix?
Las Vegas had a flood watch issued earlier in the week as the city saw heavy rainfall over the last couple of days.
Videos have surfaced over social media of the area experiencing flooding on the roads, although it is expected that this will not affect the grand prix this weekend.
With the race taking place in the early evening and at night, temperatures will be significantly cooler than we have seen recently, with highs of 14°C.
Rain should clear over the weekend, although there is a 25% chance of showers for the Friday night qualifying session.
What is the Pirelli tyre allocation for the 2025 Las Vegas Grand Prix?
Pirelli have opted to stick to the same compounds that have been used for the previous two Las Vegas Grands Prix. The C3 hard, C4 medium and C5 soft have been chosen due to tyre temperature management with the cooler temperatures in Nevada.
It shouldn’t be as cold this weekend compared to previous runnings, due to earlier scheduling, although it will be significantly cooler than the last couple of races.
Pirelli said the decision not to opt for a softer trio was “down to the risk of graining, prevalent since the first edition of this race”, after the medium compound noticeably degraded last year.
Where is the 2025 Las Vegas Grand Prix held?
The Las Vegas Grand Prix is held around the 6.201km (3.853mi) street track. It is a temporary circuit which includes parts of the Las Vegas Strip and races past the MSG Sphere.
The event hosted its inaugural race on the track in 2023, holding the first Las Vegas Grand Prix since Formula 1 raced at Caesars Palace in 1982.
It is the third race held in the United States on the current Formula 1 calendar and is currently contracted to remain on the schedule until 2027.
The track was designed by Tilke GmbH, a company led by Carsten Tilke, the son of iconic Formula 1 track designer Hermann Tilke.

Who won the 2024 Las Vegas Grand Prix?
The 2024 Las Vegas Grand Prix was won by polesitter George Russell ahead of his Mercedes teammate Lewis Hamilton.
Hamilton started from 10th after a difficult qualifying session, but was quick to work his way through the pack to catch up with Russell.
Max Verstappen became a four-time world champion after keeping title rival Lando Norris behind him. Verstappen dropped off the podium after the second round of pit stops, with the Ferrari of Carlos Sainz taking P3.
Norris finished just behind Verstappen in sixth place, after setting the fastest lap in the closing stages of the grand prix. With the Dutchman taking just a single point ahead of the McLaren driver, it knocked the Brit out of championship contention.
