The Belgian Grand Prix is the 13th round of the 2025 Formula 1 season and the battle between Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri is heating up.

The pair are separated by just eight points in the Drivers’ Championship, and Norris could level it if he manages to win both the Sprint and the main Grand Prix.

Norris has had the upper hand recently because of the upgrades made to his car, although Piastri was on course to winning the British GP had it not been for a Safety Car infringement penalty.

The big story in the break has been the sacking of Red Bull team principal Christian Horner, with the team set to contest their first race weekend in 20 years without him at the helm.

It was a brutal exit for Horner, with Racing Bulls team principal Laurent Mekies set to take over for the remainder of the season.

Whether Horner will end up at another F1 team is anyone’s guess, but it will be a big test for the team amid interest from Mercedes to employ Max Verstappen.

With those storylines in mind, F1 Oversteer has given their predictions for who will come out on top in the Ardennes forest.

Who will start from pole and win the 2025 Belgian Grand Prix?

There’s nothing like a bit of adversity to get the very best out of Max Verstappen.

With all the speculation surrounding Verstappen and a potential move to Mercedes, it wouldn’t be a surprise to see him produce another magnificent lap to put his Red Bull on pole position.

Red Bull’s deficit to McLaren, and the potential step forward Ferrari could take with their new rear suspension won’t make Verstappen’s job easy. But no other driver on the grid has shown as often as the Dutchman that he’s able to shut out all the noise around him and deliver when it matters.

Who will be the biggest surprise of the 2025 Belgian Grand Prix?

The mix of predicted wet conditions and Spa Francorchamps being a real driver’s circuit should reward Antonelli this weekend. While all eyes are on George Russell to see if Mercedes extends his contract beyond 2025, Antonelli could steal the show with a performance that hands him another podium.

Mercedes was strong at Spa Francorchamps last year, and the cool conditions should help them extract performance from their car after suffering in the heat. A strong finish would make an even bigger case for Mercedes to keep him in favour of his teammate if they do decide to pursue Max Verstappen for the future.

Who will be the biggest disappointment of the 2025 Belgian Grand Prix?

He’s had three weeks to debrief from the British Grand Prix, he has his old boss back and he must deliver a spectacular performance to save his Formula 1 career before the summer break. After that, it feels like there will be an inevitability about his future.

Yuki Tsunoda will be under a lot of pressure to deliver in Spa, and it could well end up being too much for him to handle. The Japanese driver hasn’t finished higher than ninth this year, and there’s no magic solution for the current Red Bull car, as two other drivers have shown. This could be where the road officially ends for Yuki.
