The four teams who could be interested in Sergio Perez for 2026 if he loses Red Bull drive

Sergio Perez has endured a bit of a shocker this season at Red Bull, where everything has been a bit miserable outside of the first five races.

He has since gone 18 events without a podium in an RB20 car which teammate Max Verstappen has just won his fourth consecutive drivers’ championship with.

He’s likely to lose his seat to one of two Visa Cash App RB drivers after the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, but does that bring an end to his Formula 1 career?

Perhaps there are a few teams out there that would be willing to take a gamble on a man who brings lots of sponsorship money and experience at the age of 34.

Which four teams could sign Sergio Perez for 2026?

First of all, not all of these options are easy fits, and there may be some shuffling required in order to make them happen but there’s certainly a chance.

Starting with his former team Aston Martin – who raced for before their name changed in 2021, and was adored by everyone there.

He claimed his first win with them at Sakhir in 2020, and it would be like a homecoming for him, and a chance to continue to work alongside Adrian Newey too.

Then there’s Alpine, who have been a bit disorganised of late and have just the one driver contracted for 2026 in Pierre Gasly, with Jack Doohan on a one-year deal.

Perez has proven himself to be a master of the midfield before, so a return to the fold against some of his old rivals would be an interesting storyline.

Two outsiders to claim Perez’s services in 2026?

In the event that Oliver Bearman’s career takes off, and Lewis Hamilton claims an eighth world championship with new team Ferrari before riding off into the sunset, there could be a chance at Haas.

It sounds far-fetched, but an extreme season for Bearman on either end of the scale could see the American outfit seek some more experience as they head into the new regulations for 2026.

A partnership of Perez and Esteban Ocon has shades of 2017-2018 in it but would represent a very solid duo that knows how to work with each other.

Lastly, there’s Cadillac – the new 11th team on the block will need a canny operator and someone who knows how to win at the same time.

Someone like Valtteri Bottas may be a fit there, but Perez knows what it’s like to build a team from very little in the Silverstone area – where the team will be primarily based.

There are options for the Mexican driver at the end of the day, he just has to bide his time and wait to see if any of them give him a call and believe in his abilities still.
