The 2025 Formula 1 season is almost upon us and all 20 drivers will be travelling to a joint-record 24 Grand Prix over the next nine months.
Each circuit on the F1 calendar has its pros and cons, but some are more beloved by drivers than others.
It’s not easy for drivers to enjoy the races in Qatar and Abu Dhabi as they have to deal with the jet lag of arriving straight from Las Vegas on the other side of the world after 22 previous Grand Prix weekends.
Max Verstappen even warned that the travelling will make drivers ill and at the end of the season finale in Abu Dhabi in 2023, many complained that they were unwell going into the race.
However, those drivers with a home race will always have a soft spot for driving in front of their fans, something Oscar Piastri and Jack Doohan can look forward to at this season’s opener.
The Australian Grand Prix traditionally held the first race of the year up until 2021 when hosting duties were handed over to Bahrain.
Piastri has warned Doohan about the dangers of his home race in Australia, but given the talk surrounding his future, he’ll be keen to make the most of every Grand Prix he takes part in.
Martin Brundle was asked about the F1 calendar on Sky Sports F1’s TikTok channel.
He explained his favourite things about several circuits and made a claim about the best podium in the schedule that former F1 world champion Sebastian Vettel would agree with.
Martin Brundle says the Italian Grand Prix has the best podium ‘in the world’
Brundle was given several categories to fill and a random assortment of flags, representing the circuits from those countries.
When presented with the Singapore flag, he selected the grid walk, describing it as ‘very atmospheric.’
For Brazil, he chose the weather because ‘it seems to have its own cloud that pops up towards the end of the Grand Prix,’ making each race particularly exciting.
The British flag was next and after joking he was never going to select the food, he chose Silverstone as having the best fans.
When the Italian flag appeared, he said: “Italy’s got to be, I would actually give Italy the food, but I’m not going to because the pasta and the risotto down there is to die for.

“I’m going to have to give it the podium because the podium in Monza is the best in the world.”

He then selects Austin as the best circuit, calling it a ‘great track’ and chooses Monaco for the national anthem.
Finally, Mexico was the last flag and he chose the food in the country as the final remaining category.
Brundle finished on the podium at Monza once in his F1 career, securing a second place while driving for Benetton in 1992.
He beat teammate Michael Schumacher that day but was 17 seconds behind the legendary Ayrton Senna when he took the chequered flag.

Sebastian Vettel shares Martin Brundle’s feelings about the Italian Grand Prix podium
Ferrari drivers have a particular love for the Italian Grand Prix, with fans always backing their drivers to succeed at their home track.
Charles Leclerc experienced that joy last season when he won in front of the Scuderia’s fans and Lewis Hamilton will expect to no longer be booed at Monza having made the switch to Ferrari for this season.
Vettel finished on the podium on each of his first three visits to Monza as a Ferrari driver and in 2016 after finishing third behind Nico Rosberg and Lewis Hamilton, he explained, via Motorsport: “It is a very special race for us, to stand on the podium here in Monza, is just great.

“On a day like this, you realize that life is to enjoy, to get so much support is just unbelievable.
“I feel we have the best fans in the world, it is difficult to find the right words. This podium here, it’s not the Adriatic sea, it is the sea of Tifosi…”
The podium that extends out above the main straight that’s then filled with thousands of cheering fans has witnessed some incredible races over the years.
Hamilton has won five times at Monza, but if he achieved a sixth victory, it would be by far the most special so far.
