Lewis Hamilton’s start to life as a Ferrari Formula 1 driver has been far from ideal after yet another miserable event at the Miami Grand Prix.
The Italian outfit had the fifth fastest car in the Sunshine State, and their drivers squabbled for position throughout much of the race. Effectively, the Miami Grand Prix was one to forget.
Hamilton was nearly overtaken on the last lap in a battle for eighth place, but just about managed to hold position. He’s not competing where he expected to be.
Ferrari’s next set of upgrades at the Emilia Romagna Grand Prix may already be a last chance saloon, otherwise they can wave goodbye to any hopes of a 2025 title challenge.
Hamilton was speechless with Ferrari in Miami, and couldn’t believe how much he was struggling with his tyres during the race.
It led F1 fans to fume at Ferrari and Hamilton after the race, following yet another dismal weekend, with neither car in the top six.
Lewis Hamilton may change his mind about major Ferrari upgrade after the Miami Grand Prix
Earlier in the season in Bahrain, Ferrari introduced a big floor upgrade, which they hoped was the last adjustment needed to make the SF25 fast. Hamilton was ‘delighted’ with the upgrade.
They refused to admit their concept was a problem, but ever since, they have failed to see an upturn in fortunes. The developments have not been as effective as desired.
Speaking at the time, Hamilton was very optimistic about the updates. Having failed to finish in the top four of a race after six events, his mind might be swaying.
“The upgrades are definitely working,” he told the media in Bahrain, according to Motorsport.com. “And big, big thank you to everyone back home for working so hard on bringing the upgrades, because it’s never an easy thing.
“It’s a lot of work that goes on in the wind tunnel and a lot of work that goes on in fabricating and putting together these floors.”

With 25% of the season now gone, Ferrari’s next upgrade must be effective if they want to stand any chance of fighting for a title.
Ferrari’s Bahrain upgrade was inspired by Mercedes and that may be a reason why it failed to have any effect on their car.
Their overall package should change a whole lot more in Italy, considering that the race is held close to home and they will have spent months preparing for the start of the European leg of the Formula 1 campaign.
It’s fairly safe to say that if the next developments fail, then attention may turn to the 2026 F1 regulations very quickly.
There will be little point in wasting even more time on a car and a season which bears little significance after December.
