Lewis Hamilton has not enjoyed the start to life at Ferrari that he would have liked after his move from Mercedes.
Mercedes and Lewis Hamilton enjoyed an unparalleled level of success together, with the 40-year-old winning six of his seven drivers’ championships with the team.
However, the allure of racing for Formula 1’s most prestigious and storied team was too much, and the 2025 season saw Hamilton and Ferrari finally brought together.
The most recent race on the calendar, the Italian Grand Prix, is the most important of the campaign for Ferrari and team principal Fred Vasseur.
Monza has witnessed 20 Ferrari victories in the past, with Charles Leclerc’s win in 2024 the most recent.

However, neither driver could finish in the top three, extending Hamilton’s run of races without a podium for Ferrari to 16 Grand Prix.
It means that, unfortunately, Hamilton has earned another unwanted Ferrari record since his move.
The driver who previously raced the most times in a Ferrari in Formula 1 without finishing on the podium was Louis Rosier.
His 15 Grand Prix racing in a Ferrari have now been overshadowed by Hamilton, but the Frenchman’s career is well worth studying, despite not being on the grid for nearly 70 years.

Lewis Hamilton takes Louis Rosier’s record for most F1 races driving a Ferrari without a podium
Louis Claude Rosier was born on 5 November 1905 in Chapdes-Beaufort, a small town north-west of Clermont-Ferrand.
Rosier started racing after World War II, starting up his own privateer team to race around France.

He took part in the first-ever Formula 1 race at the 1950 British Grand Prix, finishing fifth and picking up two points.
Driving his Talbot, Rosier secured the only two podiums of his F1 career later that year in Switzerland and Belgium, finishing fourth in the championship with 13 points.
Rosier switched his Talbot-Logo for a Ferrari 500 in 1952, but failed to finish three of the four races he entered, before coming home in 10th at the season finale in Italy.
He went on a run of finishing marginally outside the points throughout 1953, and a P8 at the 1954 German Grand Prix was the last time Rosier raced in Formula 1 in a Ferrari, completing 15 races without scoring a point.
The Frenchman became the ninth-oldest driver ever to start a Formula 1 race when he took part in the 1956 German Grand Prix for Maserati, scoring the final two points of his F1 career.
Rosier was sadly killed later that year, racing a Ferrari 750 Monza in a Coupe de Salon race at Montlhery.
Despite his commendable F1 career and unfortunate spell driving a Ferrari, Rosier’s greatest success came at the 1950 24 Hours of Le Mans, winning the historic race and driving all but two laps of the historic circuit.

Who took part in the most Grand Prix for Ferrari without winning a race, as Lewis Hamilton searches for his first win?
Hamilton currently sits fourth on the list of drivers with the most starts for Ferrari without a Grand Prix win.
Previously, Hamilton has been told his Ferrari career could emulate Sebastian Vettel; however, at this stage, he would likely be happy to leave the Scuderia with 14 victories like the four-time world champion.
If the 40-year-old fails to win a Grand Prix in 2025, then he will surpass Luigi Villoresi (20 starts without a win).
The Italian raced for Ferrari against Rosier in the 1950s, finishing on the podium three times in 1953.
| NAME | YEARS | RACES |
| Stefan Johansson | 1985-1986 | 31 |
| Chris Amon | 1967-1969 | 27 |
| Luigi Villoresi | 1950-1953 | 20 |
| Lewis Hamilton | 2025- | 16* |
| Louis Rosier | 1952-1954 | 15 |
Chris Amon is considered one of F1’s greatest drivers who never won a race, and he left Ferrari after 27 starts and no wins.
However, the record is currently held by Swedish driver Stefan Johansson, who achieved six podiums but no victories during his 31 races as a Ferrari driver.
Hamilton still has plenty of time to avoid that particular record, but Rosier, who in a 2016 paper was voted the 19th best F1 driver of all time, currently no longer possesses that accolade.
