The halfway stage of the 2025 Formula 1 season is the perfect opportunity to reflect on how each driver has fared so far this year.
Oscar Piastri and Lando Norris will be delighted with how McLaren have reached the next level this year, with their domination clear to see in the drivers’ and constructors’ championships.
Max Verstappen’s frustrations were clear to hear on his team radio at the British Grand Prix, as he looks almost certain to miss out on winning a fifth consecutive title this year.
| Position | Drivers' Championship | Points |
| 1 | Oscar Piastri | 234 |
| 2 | Lando Norris | 226 |
| 3 | Max Verstappen | 165 |
| 4 | George Russell | 147 |
| 5 | Charles Leclerc | 119 |
| 6 | Lewis Hamilton | 103 |
| 7 | Andrea Kimi Antonelli | 63 |
| 8 | Alexander Albon | 46 |
| 9 | Nico Hulkenberg | 37 |
| 10 | Esteban Ocon | 23 |
| 11 | Isack Hadjar | 21 |
| 12 | Lance Stroll | 20 |
George Russell has done a superb job at Mercedes, while Nico Hulkenberg deserves a lot of credit at Sauber after finally securing the first podium of his Formula 1 career.
However, there have also been a few drivers who have struggled, with Jack Doohan replaced at Alpine by Franco Colapinto, and the Argentine’s seat is now also under threat.
Yuki Tsunoda is fighting for his F1 future after being promoted from Racing Bulls to Red Bull after just two races to take Liam Lawson’s seat.
It’s the fourth driver in the Red Bull talent pool that has left many fans impressed, with Isack Hadjar proving to be the rookie to watch on the grid.

F1 fans think ‘phenomenal’ Isack Hadjar has been the most impressive driver in 2025
The official Formula 1 X account posed a question to fans during the break leading up to the Belgian Grand Prix.
They asked: “We’re halfway through the season, which driver has impressed you the most so far and why…”
Their question was responded to more than 1,000 times, with Piastri, Verstappen and Hulkenberg all regularly mentioned.
However, there was an overwhelming number of responses talking about Hadjar, who has five points finishes to his name so far this season.
One reply read: “I’m a McLaren fan, so I’m very pleased with Landon and Oscar. But the young driver that is ready to pop, in my opinion, is Hadjar.”
Another fan said: “Piastri, Max and Hadjar. Gotta love how Piastri leads the driver’s championship, Max on how he performs even with the issues with the car, and Hadjar on his comeback and consistency after the incident in Australia.”
“Probably Hadjar, in all honesty, just consistently doing well in the RB second string team/car,” another fan mentioned, while one response was simply: “Isack Hadjar by far.”
One comment suggested: “Hadjar, phenomenal talent. He has a bright future ahead of him, and I am rooting for him.”
Another supporter said: “Easily Hadjar, came into the season kind of under the radar as the F2 runner up and has done extremely well.”
“Hadjar, I think he’s been great in the Racing Bulls. Very consistent, impressive given that it’s his first season in F1,” read one message, and finally, one fan made an ominous prediction and said: “Hadjar. If he’s not in the second Red Bull seat by the end of the season, I’ll be shocked.”

How good has Racing Bulls driver Isack Hadjar been this season?
Hadjar currently sits just outside the top 10 in the drivers’ championship behind Haas star Esteban Ocon.
However, his tally of 21 points is more than Lawson and Tsunoda combined, which might explain why Hadjar is Red Bull’s preferred candidate to replace the Japanese driver next season.
The 20-year-old has had a few ups and downs, with his crash on the formation lap in Australia getting him off to the worst possible start.

Hadjar showed immense mental strength to immediately bounce back from that incident, outqualifying Tsunoda at the next race in China and reaching Q3 for the first time.
His best finish of sixth at the Monaco Grand Prix was partly down to a phenomenal lap in qualifying, which saw him start on the third row, and Racing Bulls’ tactics, using Lawson to hold up traffic for him.
Helmut Marko is a big fan of Hadjar, and given the turmoil Red Bull are currently dealing with, that’s a very important ally for the young Frenchman to have.
