Lando Norris spent much of his Miami Grand Prix trying to recover from a bold move he attempted on Max Verstappen at the start of the race.
The Brit was forced wide at turn two, pushing him back behind teammate Oscar Piastri and handing him a tall order to recover from sixth.
After McLaren were able to flex their pace under regular racing conditions, Norris was able to fly past his rivals until he reached Verstappen again.
He lost just about enough time to finish the Miami Grand Prix a few seconds behind Piastri, as the Aussie extended his drivers’ championship lead following a third win in a row.
After being sent off the track by his rival, Norris aimed a spiky comment at Verstappen and doesn’t believe that he can win however he ends a battle with the Dutchman.
Meanwhile, Piastri ‘really impressed’ at the Miami Grand Prix and continues to show that he could be McLaren’s number one driver.

F1 fans realised Lando Norris is ‘nowhere near’ Oscar Piastri’s level at the Miami Grand Prix
After Piastri’s third victory in a row, his championship lead grows to 16 points, just six races into the 2025 Formula 1 season.
The 23-year-old is starting to prove that he can be the top dog and is delivering on some of the promise he has shown over the last few seasons.
Speaking on X (formerly known as Twitter), one fan was convinced that Norris cannot match Piastri currently.
“He is champion material,” he said. “Like prime Lewis and Max. Norris is nowhere near that. If he keeps going like that he will dominate future championships.”
The recent swing in results has even convinced one fan that the momentum within the building has changed, “It’s Oscar’s team,” they wrote.
“Piastri planting his flag as McLaren’s number 1 driver… Looking more and more like Norris’s window to grab a title is closing,” agreed another.
Another individual said, “Piastri [is] going to hold this championship lead. Going to become champion before Norris,” while another fan agreed that the Brit may not be up to scratch, “Lando is the world champion of not being that guy.”
And finally, one last comment suggested that the current championship leader has one advantage over his teammate, “Once again, a mistake from Lando Norris on the opening lap handed Oscar Piastri the race win.
“Maybe Lando isn’t championship material, too many errors. Oscar may not be as fast as Lando, but he’s consistently flawless, and in Formula 1, that’s what makes the difference.”

Why Lando Norris’ Miami Grand Prix was far more positive than it seemed
Encouragingly, for maybe the first time this season, especially in the second half of the race, Norris looked faster and more comfortable than Piastri.
The winner even admitted after the race that he felt like he had less pace on the hard tyre and was glad that he had built a gap behind.
| Position | Drivers' Championship | Points |
| 1 | Oscar Piastri | 106 |
| 2 | Lando Norris | 97 |
| 3 | Max Verstappen | 87 |
| 4 | George Russell | 78 |
| 5 | Charles Leclerc | 47 |
| 6 | Andrea Kimi Antonelli | 40 |
Norris was told to show Piastri two things in Miami, and he at least showed that he has the confidence to remain in the title fight.
If he can match the level of performance he produced in round six for the rest of the season, he will be a formidable opponent and strong contender for overall honours.
