McLaren star Lando Norris has admitted that he has given up one of his favourite hobbies to concentrate further on his Formula 1 career.
Of all the current drivers on the grid, Lando Norris is likely the next in line to win his first Formula 1 race, although teammate Oscar Piastri might have something to say about that.
Speaking on The Peter Crouch Podcast, Norris shared one of the sacrifices he’s had to make to focus even further on his F1 dream.
Norris has given up one of his passions to focus on F1
Lando Norris had to wait until the afternoon session of Wednesday’s pre-season test in Bahrain after Piastri piloted the car in the morning.
McLaren are going into 2024 in a great position after finishing last season so strongly.
Only Red Bull outscored the papaya-coloured team in the second half of 2023 and Max Verstappen’s dominance prevented them from standing on the top step of the podium.
However, a victory still eludes Norris and he’s now matched the record of Nick Heidfled for most podiums without a win.
He’ll be hoping when the team runs in Bahrain for real next week that he can challenge the Red Bulls to stand on the top step of the podium.
Norris has admitted he’s given up one of his favourite hobbies so that he can concentrate even more on his driving.
He’ll be desperate for that sacrifice to pay off sooner rather than later.

Norris desperate to end wait for first F1 win
Asked about his passion for DJing, Norris admitted his time on the decks is over for now: “I’ve retired! [The] priorities of life [is why I stopped].
“I’ve got races to win and championships to try and win. I got heavily addicted to DJing and I will not blame Mr [Martin] Garrix for this who I’m dear, close friends with but he did get me my first set of decks and I would travel by plane or whatever it was, in cars, with my decks, with speakers and hotel rooms and I brought my decks with me.
“I loved it, I love music but I really, really loved it but I got to the point where I was doing so much and I DJed a couple of clubs but it wasn’t right, it wasn’t the correct thing for me to do.
“It wasn’t distracting me, but it was just taking my mind too much away from what I needed to do which is my job.
“I loved it and I loved that world, it’s just I’ve got a daytime job and this is a nighttime job, so when you try to do both, zero sleep is in the schedule.”
He may have given up DJing for now, but Norris still has plenty of time ahead of him to pick up his hobby again later in life.
The 24-year-old is probably looking across the paddock and seeing Valtteri Bottas splitting his time between F1 and cycling and wondering if he can do the same.
