Aston Martin driver Fernando Alonso has admitted he’s going to make one change heading into the 2024 Formula 1 season.
After a very successful first season in British racing green, Fernando Alonso will be looking forward to another campaign in F1.
He was speaking after pre-season testing and, via Autosport, shared what he’s going to do differently from last year.
Alonso on the one change he’ll make for the 2024 season
Fernando Alonso has been an outspoken critic of the short time frame that all 10 F1 teams have to test their new cars.
Each driver was given a day and a half to get to grips with their cars and Aston Martin once again looked quick.
However, closing the gap to Red Bull is the ultimate goal and that’s going to be easier said than done.
It’s also set to be one of the most intense seasons in F1 history.
For the first time ever, teams will travel to 24 Grand Prix, with Emilia Romagna and China added to the list of destinations from last year.
That puts additional pressure on everyone in the paddock and it was telling that several drivers were unwell by the time they reached Abu Dhabi last year.

Alonso has shared a key change he plans to make for 2024 season
Speaking about the upcoming campaign, Alonso said: “In my case, it’s very interesting because I have, I think, a good position to negotiate.
“But I want to at least do the first couple of races without thinking too much.
“I want to see myself into a new season. It’s going to be the longest-ever season in Formula 1 [at 24 races]. “I want to change a little bit some of the travel schedule and things to be really efficient this year and arrive with high energy at the end of the year.
“So, a couple of things that are my main focus now are not so much next year.”
The 2024 calendar is going to be intense and Alonso’s wise for looking to make a change to his travel schedule at this early stage of the year.
He’s 42 now and although Pedro De La Rosa has praised his fitness levels, that amount of travelling is going to take its toll.
The triple header at the end of the season immediately stands out as the teams travel between Las Vegas, Qatar and Abu Dhabi.
That’s likely to be raised as a concern towards the end of the campaign and F1 has to find a way to solve these issues if they want to continue expanding the calendar.
